Morris Maitaki, who is also President of the Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation, has hit back at NOCSI as it continues its almost two-month long probe into the allegations.

The NOCSI set up an investigation team in June to look at the claims, first brought to light the previous month.

"The investigation is currently [being] carried out by NOCSI [and] we are all anticipating its outcome," Maitaki told the Solomon Star.

"As I had said in my earlier response to NOCSI, this is merely an internal petty politics within the NOCSI Executive that has already backfired."

He said he believes the Solomon Island Government will soon "intervene".

"I remember when the allegation [was] raised by the NOCSI Executive Board, I did not even know what it was all about and what 'miss-appropriate' funds over the years means, as claimed by the acting President of NOCSI," added Maitaki.

"Actually the allegation was verbally said that it's related to a particular course and festival tournament conducted by volleyball in Renbel back in 2012.

"The allegation to my knowledge was merely [regarding] a grassroots solidarity training course related to a particular payment to a supplier that is under question."

He says he was not responsible for that payment and denies misusing funds.

It is not clear when NOCSI expects to conclude its investigation.
