Simon Jersey will also be dressing the British team for the Rio 2016 Closing Ceremony ©Getty ImagesThe British Olympic Association (BOA) has named Simon Jersey as Team GB's official formalwear provider for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

It will provide team members with a "bespoke suiting range" which will be worn at events both in the United Kingdom and in Rio de Janeiro, where the Games will be held in less than two years' time.

The leading uniform provider will also be dressing the team for the Closing Ceremony.

"Our preparations for Rio are on track and confirming our formalwear provider shows that we're now getting into the detailed elements of that planning," said BOA chief executive Bill Sweeney.

"Simon Jersey is a well-respected UK-based company which has a very strong background in providing quality clothing for organisations and we are thrilled to be welcoming them to the Olympic family."

The company was established more than 40 years ago and describes itself as "one of the pioneers of the corporate clothing industry".

Following today's announcement, Simon Jersey managing director James Saunders, said: "We're extremely excited to be a part of the Olympics journey for Team GB and can't wait to follow the team on their path to success at the 2016 Games.

"This is the first time a corporate wear supplier has been awarded the contract to supply Team GB.
