CiCi Bellis, the junior world number two, was given a wild card for the final Grand Slam of the year after winning the US girls' national championships.

Ranked 1,208 in the world, she shocked the Australian Open finalist from Slovakia in a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win.

With her first round victory, Bellis has become the youngest winner of a US Open match since Russian Anna Kournikova in 1996.

Kournikova was 59 days younger when she made it into the fourth round at Flushing Meadows.

Bellis, who is 15 years and 152 days old, is the youngest player to feature in the main draw of a Grand Slam for nine years.

She had never played at Women's Tennis Association level until today.

"I'm feeling amazing," she said afterwards.

"I'm still speechless.

I'm still in shock about that match.

"I went into the match thinking it was going to be such a great experience, but I never thought I would come out on top winning."

Bellis will face world number 48 Zarbia Dyas of Kazakhstan, but will not be able to collect her prize money as she in an amateur.
