Kayla Maroney Kyla Ross Alexandra Raisman Gabrielle Douglas and Jordyn WieberApril 18 - Gabrielle Douglas, Kyla Ross, Alexandra Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Jordyn Wieber, the United States' gold medal winning gymnastics squad from London 2012, are among the champions to be inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame as the governing body celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The team (pictured top) made history last summer by winning their nation's second-ever women's Olympic team gold medal in gymnastics and the first at a Games held outside the US, with their runaway victory of more than a five-point margin coming 16 years after Atlanta's "Magnificent Seven" captured Team USA's first team gold in 1996.

Douglas also won the all-around gold medal, Raisman secured the floor exercise gold and balance beam bronze medal and Maroney earned the vault silver medal.

The 2007 World Championships teams for artistic gymnastics - Ivana Hong, Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Samantha Peszek, Alicia Sacramone, Shayla Worley and alternate Bridget Sloan - and tumbling - Yuliya Hall Brown, Susannah Johnson, Leanne Seitzinger and Kaitlin Tortorich - will also be invited into the Hall of Fame as the three squads become the Class of 2013 to mark the anniversary.

Before the Class of 2013, only four teams - all gold medalists - had been inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame, namely the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic men's team, the Atlanta 1996 women's team, the 1999 men's double mini-trampoline World Championships team and the 2003 women's World Championships team.

The 50-year milestone is also due to be celebrated at the 2013 US Championships, the USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show on August 15 unti 18 at the XL Centre in Hartford, although the plans are still being finalised.

"The organisation's first office opened in January 1963 and the first US Gymnastics Championships were held that June," USA Gymnastics President Steve Penny said.

"In Hartford, we will recognise both the milestones of USA Gymnastics and the achievements of its athletes during that time, as well as 50 years of championships.

"With the championships and the USA Gymnastics National Congress, our gymnastics community will be in Hartford to mark this occasion and the feats of this accomplished Hall of Fame class.

"It is the perfect stage for celebrating our first 50 years."
