February 26 - The Track Cycling World Championships in Cali will be broadcast in over 100 countries and territories ©AFP/Getty ImagesMore than 100 countries and territories will have access to live coverage of the International Cycling Federation (UCI) Track Cycling World Championships, thanks to a new deal announced by the governing body with media partner Infront Sports & Media.

Under the new deal, international media rights for live, delayed, highlights and news coverage have been licensed to around 30 media companies, broadcasting on free and pay TV, as well as online and mobile platforms.

In addition, the UCI says the number of broadcast partners taking the live signal has doubled from last year's Championships in Minsk, while a total of 140 media representatives have been accredited for this year's event, which is due to get underway today in Cali, Colombia, and runs through until Sunday (March 2).

"The UCI Track World Championships have never been more accessible to fans," said executive director of summer sports at Infront Sports & Media Stephan Herth.

"As always, the UCI and Infront have worked very closely to select the best possible media outlet for the event in each region.

"Also, looking toward the future, our focus will be on live exposure to maximise audiences and share the excitement of all the cycling disciplines and aspects of the sport."

Colombian broadcaster RCN Television will provide the HDTV signal using a total of 12 cameras, while other partners on the American continent include Pan South American broadcaster DirectTV, Universal in the United States, with RDS and Rogers Sportsnet providing coverage in Canada.

The BBC, FranceTV, BeIn Sports, NOS , Polsat, RAI, Viasat Group and VRT will provide coverage in European territories, while SBS and Sky New-Zealand will broadcast in the Oceania region, NHK Media in Japan and Al Jazeera will cover the Middle East.

The new agreement will also see live coverage available in India through Sony and Malaysia via Astro for the first time.

In addition, worldwide news access will be provided by SNTV and Perform.

"Whilst strong results were already achieved in the first year of our partnership, the collaboration with Infront is now realising its full potential," said UCI President Brian Cookson.

"Jointly, we have secured more live broadcast partners than ever before for the UCI Track World Championships, meeting fan demand and establishing a sustainable presence on screens worldwide."

Subject to each territory's broadcast commitment, a combination of live coverage and highlights will also be available online via the UCI's YouTube channel.
