The recommendation to award the event to Lincolnshire was made by the British Cycling Road Commission and endorsed by the Board of British Cycling at a meeting today in Manchester.

"We are obviously delighted to hear that British Cycling has accepted our bid to organise the 2015 British Cycling National Road Race and Time Trial Championships," said the event's organiser, Ian Emmerson, following the announcement.

Lincolnshire already plays host to the annual Lincoln Grand Prix which has become a mainstay on the domestic cycling tour in Britain.

"In recent years the National Road Championships have become an iconic event on the cycling calendar bringing together a cast made up of globally recognised sportsmen and women," said cyclesport and membership director at British Cycling Jonny Clay.

"Each place that hosts the event stands on the shoulders of those that have hosted before and takes on the responsibility for further building the reputation of our Championship.

"With the status of the Lincoln Grand Prix already clearly established on the domestic cycling calendar, Lincolnshire has all the ingredients for a superb Championship and we look forward to visiting in 2015."

This year's Championships are set for Monmouthshire from June 26 to 29 and will see some of the top names in world cycling battling it out on the road.

At last year's championships in Glasgow, Mark Cavendish secured his first win in the men's road race event, finishing clear of 2012 winner Ian Stannard, while the time trial crown went to Alex Dowsett for the third year in a row.

Simon Yates took the under-23 title.

On the women's side, London 2012 silver medallist Lizzie Armistead took the road race crown for the second time in three years, finishing ahead of double Olympic track cycling gold medallist Laura Trott with Dani King coming in third.

Trott's second place in the main race was enough to see her crowned under-23 champion while the women's time trial competition was won by Joanna Rowsell.
