The Italian, who succeeds Argentinian Osvaldo Bisbal in the role, was named EUBC President in December 2012 following the resignation of Dr Humbert Furgoni following the conclusion of the Olympics in London.

"I am convinced that you are the best person to follow up on all projects undertaken by the WSB Commission during the past years," said AIBA President C K Wu in a letter to Falcinelli.

"Your wide knowledge of all aspects of boxing on or outside a ring is certainly an asset to do your job well.

"I will instruct the AIBA executive director to send you the names of all the persons who have been appointed for this Commission."

The WSB, which was proposed and approved in August 2008, is a global team competition bringing together the world's best boxers.

The annual event allows aspiring boxers to compete professionally without having to sacrifice competing on behalf of their countries at the Olympic Games.
