The logo for the 2014 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships ©AIBAThe International Boxing Association (AIBA) has unveiled the logo for this year's Women's World Boxing Championships due to take place on Jeju Island, South Korea, from November 13 to 25.

The logo uses red, white and blue colours and features a female boxer posing in front of the sea with the landscape of Jeju Island in the background.

AIBA says that the logo is subtle yet memorable and encapsulates the scientific aspect of the sport.

The best women boxers in the world will take part in the Championships across 10 weight categories including the 48 kilograms, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg and over 81kg.

The event will be staged at the Halla Gymnasium of Jeju City, the largest city on the island of Jeju, and will follow the AIBA Congress scheduled to take place at the International Convention Centre from November 8 to 15.

The Boxing Association of Korea had been suspended by AIBA in 2012 for breaches of rules and regulations of the governing body but were readmitted in May last year following a period of reform which saw the election of Yoon Seok Chang as the sport's new President in the country.

The Championships were awarded to South Korea earlier this year when original hosts Canada pulled out after being unable to find a suitable venue to suit the dates of the event.

They will be the eighth edition of the Championships which first took place in Scranton, United States, in 2001 followed by editions in Antalya, Turkey in 2002; Podolsk, Russia in 2005; Delhi, India in 2006; Ningbo, China in 2008; Bridgetown, Barbados in 2010 and Qinhuangdao, China in 2012.
