The former London 2012 chairman will be head of the IAAF Evaluation Commission that will visit the bidding cities, Barcelona, Doha and Eugene, ahead of the final decision here next month.

The Evaluation Commission will analyse the capabilities of each contender in a number of areas, based on a study of the bidding documents and the on-site visits.

Amongst the key areas that will be examined are vision and general concept, competition, accommodation, transportation, broadcasting, media operations, medical and anti-doping, security, sponsorship and legacy. 

Coe, the double Olympic 1500 metres champion, who is now vice-president of the IAAF, will be joined on the Commission by Canada's Abigail Hoffman and Japan's Katsuyuki Tanaka, members of the world governing body's ruling Council. 

Coe was on the other side of the fence two years ago when he played a leading role in London's successful bid for the 2017 IAAF World Championships, when the British capital beat Doha.

IAAF senior vice-president Bob Hersh, from the United States, had led the Evaluation Commission on that occasion.

Coe will lead a Commission that will also include Essar Gabriel, general secretary of the IAAF, and Nick Davies, the IAAF deputy general secretary and director communications, along with the competitions director Paul Hardy. 

The Commission will be completed by Junko Shiota and Ryo Wakabayashi from Dentsu and Nigel Swinscoe from AMS, the IAAF's marketing partners. 

The Commission will visit each of the bidding cities for two days, starting in Barcelona on October 14 and 15.

They will then move to Eugene on October 26 and 27 before completing their inspections in Doha on October 30 and 31.

The Evaluation Commission visits will follow a standard agenda that has been sent by the IAAF to each city.

This includes working meeting with the Evaluation Commission members to go through each of the  key themes, introducing them briefly and allowing for questions and answers, as well as to organise site visit of the key venues proposed for the World Championships.

In addition an official dinner or lunch and a press conference will be organised.

The report of the Evaluation Commission will be drafted from the Candidature File reviews and visits. 

It will be reviewed and approved collectively by the Evaluation Commission members to reflect  prior to submission to the IAAF Council on November 7. 

The host city for the IAAF World Championships 2019 will be decided in Monaco by the IAAF Council on November 18, following final presentations made by the three candidates.

The choice of the host city for the 2019 World Championships could be particularly significant for Coe as he is the favourite to replace Lamine Diack as President of the IAAF when he steps down next year.

Coe is considered the frontrunner to take over from the long-serving Senegalese at the election due to be held on the eve of next year's IAAF World Championships in Beijing, although he is expected to be challenged by Ukraine's world pole vault record holder Sergey Bubka.
