Mikasa 070313March 7 - The International Aquatics Federation (FINA) has extended its deal with its exclusive supplier of water polo balls, Mikasa Corporation of Japan, through to 2016.

The new agreement will cover all FINA-governed water polo competitions taking place over the next four years, including the 2013 and 2015 World Championships in Barcelona and Kazan respectively.

Mikasa will also provide balls for the annual series of the World Leagues, the 2013 and 2015 Junior World Championships, the 2014 and 2016 Youth World Championships, and the 2014 World Cups.

"Mikasa has been a successful partner of FINA and plays an essential role in the development of the first Olympic team sport, water polo," FINA President Julio Maglione said.

"The quality of its products and the modern and dynamic design of its balls are precious tools that contribute to enhance the beauty and exposure of this spectacular game, thus bringing a strong added-value to this discipline."

Mikasa's President, Taketoshi Saeki, also welcomed the news of the extended deal.

"For us at Mikasa Corporation, this day marks an important stage in our history," he said.

"We look forward to a partnership lasting well into the future.

"With this renewed partnership, we sincerely hope that Mikasa Corporation will play an effective and productive role in the continued growth of water polo around the world."
