The competition schedule for the Under-15 Baseball World Cup has been revealed ©IBAFThe competition schedule for the Under-15 Baseball World Cup has been released and sees Venezuela get the defence of their title underway against Hong Kong.

Runners-up last time out Cuba begin with a clash against Argentina, while bronze medallists Chinese Taipei take on Guatemala.

Mexico, which will have hosted both editions of the tournament so far following on from the inaugural event two years ago, are due to start against Italy.

All 18 teams will be in action on the opening day with the other games featuring New Zealand against Germany, Japan versus South Africa,  Brazil take on Czech Republic, Australia are up against Lithuania while Panama take on the United States.

The US and Japan, ranked number one and two in the world will be making their first appearance in an Under-15 Baseball World Cup, as will Australia, Czech Republic, New Zealand, Panama and South Africa.

A total of 83 matches are set to take place across Culiacan, Los Mochis and Mazatlán in the Baja California Sur region of Mexico from July 31 to August 10.

Each team will play five round-robin matches in their respective groups before the top two from each group advance to a four-match second round-robin with head-to-head competitions from the first round carrying over into the next round.

The top two teams from the second round-robin stage will contest the gold medal match with the third and fourth placed sides playing for bronze.

Group A contains Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic and Guatemala.

The US head Group B along with rivals Japan and Panama, Germany New Zealand and South Africa.

Venezuela and Cuba will play in a repeat of the 2012 gold medal game in Group C, where they are joined by Australia, Argentina, Hong Kong and Lithuania.
