Mascots set to make £14 million for London 2012

May 20 - The new London 2012 mascots Wenlock and Mandeville, unveiled last night, could contribute up to £14 million ($20 million) to help pay for the staging of the Olympics and Paralympics as retail sales of merchandise are set to top £1 billion ($1.4 billion), which would be a record.

May 19 - London 2012 today launched its mascots, Wenlock for the Olympics and Mandeville for the Paralympics, created from the last drops of steel left over from the construction of the final support girder for the Olympic Stadium and were born in Bolton.

May 19 - London 2012 will tonight unveil two mascots fashioned out of a steel girder with an accompanying story written by children's author Michael Morpurgo that will form the centrepiece of its marketing campaign in the build-up to the Olympics and Paralympics, Sebastian Coe has revealed.








UK Athletics boss backs West Ham plan for Olympic Stadium

May 9 - West Ham United have received encouragement that they will be able to take over the £537 million ($795 million) Olympic Stadium after the London 2012 Games from Ed Warner, the chairman of UK Athletics, who has claimed that their proposal is "very credible".
