Hyatt Announces Plans for Hyatt Regency Sochi

Hyatt_Regency_Sochi_hotel_2August 6 - Hyatt has entered into an agreement with Yug–Novy Vek, a subsidiary of Russian real estate developer Snegiri Development, to manage Hyatt Regency Sochi, which is under construction and expected to open in late 2013, just a year before the Winter Olympics and Paralympics open there, it has been announced.


Bubka hails Pyeongchang's "close to perfect" 2018 Winter Olympics bid

Sergey_Bubka_13-07-11July 26 - Sergey Bubka, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee, has formally congratulated Pyeongchang after they won the right to host the Winter Olympic and Paralympics Games in 2018 with a "close to perfect" bid, that saw the decision being made after only one round of voting.

Formula_One_race_Sochi_July_17_2011July 18 - Éric Boullier, the team principal of Lotus Renault, praised Sochi after drivers representing his team, world champions Red Bull and Ferarri were among those who took part in a special demonstration event in Sochi to help publicise the Winter Olympics and Paralympics resort hosting a Formula One Grand Prix in 2014.



The citizens of Annecy have won, claim anti-Olympic body

annecy_anti-olympic_protestors_12-07-11July 12 - The Annecy Anti-Olympic Committee claimed that "the citizens of Annecy have won" after the French town lost its bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics to Pyeongchang, and said that bid leader Charles Beigbeder should return his Légion d'honneur, one of the most privileged honours in France.
