Anyone can nominate their favourite moment - which can be from the Games, world or regional championships, or even off the playing field - on the special website www.ipc25.com from now until July 25.

After the closing date, the IPC Governing Board, led by President Sir Philip Craven, will review the entries and choose what they believe are the top 25, before starting a daily countdown of the selected moments on the website from August 29 until the number one moment is revealed on September 22, the date on which the IPC was formed in 1989.

Everyone who takes part will be entered into a free prize draw to win a five-day trip for two to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

"The #IPC25 campaign is one of many initiatives we are organising this year to celebrate the IPC's silver jubilee," Craig Spence, the IPC's Director of Media and Communications, said.

"We want the public to share in our celebrations and this is one way of doing so.

"Since the IPC was formed 25 years ago there have been many great and memorable moments within the Paralympic Movement.

"We want to find the best one."

He also revealed how the competition will be a social campaign, allowing people to share their memories on Twitter using the #IPC25 hashtag.

"In August we will launch an interactive map plotting all the entries received," Spence added.

"This means that in addition to finding out the Top 25 Moments, website visitors can also read and share other peoples' favourite Parasport moments from around the world."

The IPC was formed at a meeting in the German city of Düsseldorf, with more than 200 participants from 42 countries in attendance.

Bob Steadward was the organisation's first President and he remained in the position until 2001 when Sir Philip took over the role.

The Lillehammer 1994 Winter Paralympics were the first Games for which the IPC was fully responsible and the Summer Paralympics are now regarded as the world's third biggest sporting event in terms of ticket sales behind only the Olympics and FIFA World Cup.
