Horse_Guards_ParadeNovember 26 - A temporary cluster of venues for the London 2012 Olympics will be project managed by Drivers Jonas Deloitte, it has been announced.

Greenwich Park, which will host equestrian events and modern pentathlon, Horse Guards Parade, beach volleyball, The Mall, the start and finish for the marathons, and Hyde Park, the triathlon and marathon swimming, will all require a huge logistical operation with no room for error.

The project team at Drivers Jonas Deloitte, headed by Stephen Jepson, has extensive experience in the project management of some of the UK's best sporting facilities including The Oval, The Southampton Rose Bowl, Aberdeen Sports Village, the City of Coventry Stadium and the Hull Community Stadium.

Said Jepson: "These venues have a significant historic prominence in London and it's our job to create first class sporting facilities to showcase to the world.

"They are a huge logistical operation with no room for error.

"Take the beach volleyball for example - we'll be creating a temporary arena in the heart of Whitehall for 15,000 spectators, including sand brought in to create London's very own beach, and it will be constructed inside six weeks following Trooping the Colour."

Heather Hancock, lead partner for London 2012 at Deloitte, said: "The use of such iconic locations as venues for the Games is inspired.

"It will enhance the visitor experience and the global media impact during London 2012 and we are thrilled to be at the heart of bringing these innovative venues to life.

"This appointment increases further the role Deloitte is playing in helping LOCOG deliver a memorable Games.

"Our people have provided over 200,000 hours of support on over 120 advisory projects while over 100 of our people have been placed on secondment into LOCOG and the wider London 2012 family since our appointment.

"Through the provision of services including tax advice, human capital and management consultancy services, financial and accounting services and programme and risk management, Deloitte is proud to be helping LOCOG to achieve its goal of delivering a world class Olympic and Paralympic Games."
