Sochi ice_skaters_dance_June_29July 2 - Top ice-skaters will be bringing Russian winter to London during this summer's Olympic and Paralympics for a theatrical performance.


The show will take place on a specially constructed and covered ice arena at Sochi.Park in Kensington Gardens.

The event is created by world famous Russian figure skating champion Ilya Averbukh, who won European and world titles as well as an Olympic silver medal during his career.

The unique show will be a key part of the events taking place at Sochi.Park, a visitor attraction celebrating Sochi as the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympics during London 2012.

The show, entitled Sochi: Small Stories of a Big City, will feature performers such as Tatiana Navka, an Olympic ice dancing champion and Sochi 2014 ambassador.

Other Olympic and world champions stars include Aleksei Yagudin, Roman Kostomarov, Tatyana Totmyanina, Maxim Marinin, Mariya Petrova, Aleksei Tikhonov, Margarita Drobyasko, Povilas Vanagas, Maxim Stavinski, Albena Denkova, Maxim Shabalin and Oksana Dommina.

The event is being billed as the biggest ice spectacular ever performed outside of Russia.

Sochi.Park will be in London from July 26, the day before the Opening Ceremony of the Games, until August 12, the day of the Closing Ceremony.

As well as the numerous Olympic and world champions, 250 handmade costumes, seven tonnes of props and 15 original songs will feature in the hour and a half long show.

Tickets
for the show are available from July 29 to August 7.

A total of 10,000 visitors a day are expected at Sochi.Park during the Games, which will also feature a virtual 4D cable car ride experience through the Krasnaya Polyana mountain range in Sochi where Olympic alpine skiing events will take place in 2014.
