London_2012_Paralympic_tickets_posterSeptember 25 - The ticket application process for the London 2012 Paralympics closes tomorrow evening with places still available for the Olympic Stadium, where there is the opportunity to see Oscar Pistorius compete.

For the first time in Paralympic history, sessions across several sports are oversubscribed a year out, including track cycling, swimming sessions, the final rounds of wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis.

But £10 ($15/€11) day pass tickets for the Olympic Park, ExCeL and the Royal Artillery Barracks are still available, offering the chance to see several sports throughout the day, including medal sessions.

Besides South African Pistorius defending his 100 metres, 200m and 400m titles in the T44 category there is the opportunity to watch Britiain's David Weir trying to repeat the 800m and 1500m double he achieved at Beijing in 2008.

There are also tickets still available for the wheelchair basketball where Britain recently won the European Championships and will be hoping to improve on their bronze medal from 2008.

"When the process closes at 6pm on Monday we anticipate that we will have had applications for hundreds of thousands of tickets - a fantastic achievement a year out from the Paralympic Games," said Sebastian Coe, the London 2012 chairman.

"There is still availability across many sports providing opportunities to see world class sport at our world class venues."

While the demand for Paralympic tickets has not matched the clamour that there were for the Olympics, London 2012 has still sold more tickets at this stage any other previous Games.

"The demand for London 2012 Paralympic Games tickets, and the fact that some sessions are already oversubscribed one year out, is like nothing ever seen before in the history of the Paralympic Games," said Sir Philip Craven, the President of the International Paralympic Committee.

"To have such interest and hunger in the Games really is unprecedented.

"For those yet to apply for tickets, I can promise you an elite sporting event that will surprise and inspire you like nothing you've ever seen before."
