Holiday_Inn_2012_Olympic_bank_noteDecember 16 - Hotel chain Holiday Inn is celebrating a landmark London 2012 day on December 20 - the 20th day of the 12th month - by selling rooms for just £20.12.

The company, Official Hotel Provider to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will let people book the rooms on December 20, from 00.01 hours to 23.59 hours for full stays at 171 participating Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels.

People are able to stay on any date between December 26 and January 9 - excluding December 31 - on a room-only basis.

Chris Hale, head of London 2012 for Holiday Inn, said: "Christmas often means hordes of friends and family descending for a few days, taking over our living rooms and leaving some of us sleeping on the sofa.

"If you prefer a bed of your own this Christmas or you want an excuse to escape the washing up, this special rate is the perfect excuse to enjoy a few days away from home.

"The sale is for one day only and the rooms will go quickly so people should put London 2012 day in their diaries and be ready to book their break.

"With so many big football games in the fixture list over the Christmas period, fans now have the perfect excuse to enjoy an away game.

"Newcastle fans can take a trip to watch their team take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane or Leeds United enthusiasts can stop over at any of the six Holiday Inn hotels in and around Cardiff after their match on January 4."

The offer is a continuation of Holiday Inn's partnership with London 2012, as last month it revealed it will be providing over 1,500 free nights to support 50 emerging and established British athletes in their quest for medals.

Top athletes signed up include Rebecca Adlington, Victoria Pendleton, Tim Brabants and Shelly Woods.
