February 15 - The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Iran have elected a new Board and Executive Committee for 2010 at their General Assembly in Tehran.  



A total of 57 related members participated in the General Assembly in Tehran.

The newly elected Board Members include President Mahmoud Khosravivafa, first vice president Fatemeh Rakhshani, second vice president Ghafour Karegari, secretary general Gholamresa Ebrahimi and treasurer Jahangir Fadaei.

The elected Executive Members include Mohammad Mehrayin, Sima Limouchi, Bahman Zand, Ali Kashfya, Mehrdad Agin and Ahmadreza Shajiei.

Athletes from Iran took home a strong 14 medals for their country at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games including the gold medal for the men’s sitting volleyball team, and the bronze medal for the football seven-a-side team.

Iran first competed at the Paralympic Games in 1988 at the Summer Games in Seoul and made their debut in the Winter Paralympics at the Nagano in 1998.

They have claimed a total of 89 Summer Paralympic Games medals and four Winter Paralympic Games medals, all of which came in alpine skiing.
