In total there are 110 National Federations of the IMMAF, with their main responsibilities including:

  • Governing, managing and developing the amateur side of the sport; including offering coach and referee education, representing MMA in discussions with politicians and the sports community and protecting legislation that allows MMA to be practiced safely and legally in the country.
  • Handling an oversight of rules, regulations and safety by developing and communicating with the MMA community in their home nation.
  • Gathering MMA academies, teams and organisations to make them members of the National Federation and in turn giving them voting rights and a voice within the organisation.
  • Hosting National Championships and managing the selection of a national team to participate at IMMAF World Championships.
  • Reaching out to National Olympic Committees and Governments to get MMA nationally recognised within the sporting world.

There are 23 National Federations in the Pan America region, 27 in Asia, 43 in Europe, three in Oceania and 14 in Africa.

All nations or territories interested in becoming an IMMAF affiliate must fill out an application form in English through its website.
