The Nigeria Boxing Referees/Judges Association opposes the decision of the former president of the National Boxing Federation of Nigeria (NBF), Kenneth Minimah, to withdraw Nigeria from the International Boxing Association.

It was heartbreaking for Armenia’s Alik Ktshoyan (63 kg) to receive a caution in the 3rd round that cost him a place in the semifinals. Referee Chokri Aridhi from Tunisia stopped the fight and cautioned the Armenian boxer for holding his opponent Khikhmatillo Ulmasov from Uzbekistan, and at the end of the bout 4 judges gave a minimal advantage to Ulmasov.

It was a very successful day for Indian boxers in the 2023 IBA World Junior Championships in Yerevan, as their 8 athletes went to the semifinals. Five Russian boxers also went through the quarterfinals. Armenia had only five representatives in the first day of the quarterfinals, but four of them left the ring with the win.

The start of the fourth day in the 2023 IBA World Junior Championships was perfect for the host country. 50 kg boxer Tihran Ovsepyan looked very confident in his first fight of the tournament and defeated Mario Nakic (Croatia) by unanimous decision. In the next round he will meet Crein Moyo from Zimbabwe, who was exempt from the 1/8 finals. The other quarterfinal pair on the top of the bracket formed Achilleas Tsepidis from Greece and Dominik Gombai from Hungary. Both of them won their bouts by unanimous decisions. 

The ring was prepared for the women’s competition in 2023 IBA World Junior Championships in Mika Sport complex, Yerevan. 44 boxers from 7 weight categories stepped to the ring for their 1/8 round fights. 

The International Boxing Association (IBA) and the government of Japan deepened their understanding this week with a meeting in Tokyo between Umar Kremlev, President of the IBA, and Nishimura Yasutoshi, Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan.

The second competitive day of the 2023 IBA World Junior Championships in Yerevan has ended, and for the host country Armenia, it went almost as well as yesterday.

The capital of Armenia hosted the EUBC European Championships in 2022, the 2023 EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships and several IBA congresses. And now the 2023 IBA World Junior Championships are held in Mika sport complex in Yerevan.

World Boxing will gather in Frankfurt this Saturday for the World Congress, where the elected positions of President, Vice President and seats on the Executive Committee will be decided, as well as the Presidents of the Sport and Competition Committee, the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee.

Chicago will host the second World Gay Boxing Championships (WGBC) in June 2024. At the beginning of this year, the inaugural event was held at Sydney World Pride, and the competition will be led by founder Martin Stark and Out100 fighter Diego La Valle Cevallos-Garzon.

Mr. Berhanu Eyassu Wossen from Ethiopia was elected by acclamation as the new AFBC President, being the only candidate after the other candidates withdrew. In total, 44 countries were represented at the Congress.

The bout between Olympic champion from Russia, Albert Batyrgaziev, and three-time World champion from Cuba, Lazaro Alvarez, will be one of the most significant events of the Dubai Champions' Night (December 9-12). It will be a previously unseen title in the IBA, and the fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the 60-kilogram category
