October 23 - Sir Chris Hoy made it two from two at the British National Championships in Manchester tonight as Britain’s Olympic stars turned on the style at Sportcity.

 

The Scot, four-time Olympic gold medallist sat out qualification but came back for  the semi-finals and final of the team sprint.

 

There was never any doubt the National individual sprint ace would strike gold along with Jason Kenny and Kent veteran Jamie Staff.

 

The Beijing champions clocked a dazzling 43.759sec to beat Matt Crampton plus promising youngsters Peter Mitchell and David Daniell.

 

World team sprint champion Lizzie Armitstead gained her second gold medal of the championships in the exhausting points race.

 

The Yorkshire endurance expert was in a class of her own, adding to last night's scratch title.

 

Armitstead finished 20 points in front of silver medallist Hannah Mayo, finishing second for a third time in four days.

 

With World and Olympic champion Victoria Pendleton without a partner, Helen Scott and Jess Varnish took advantage to win the women's team sprint from Jenny Davis and Charline Joiner.
