September 6 - Bradley Wiggins (pictured) and Emma Pooley claimed victories in the British Time Trial Championships in Buckinghamsire today.

Wiggins, riding for Garmin Slipstream, clocked 1 hour 02min 15sec for the 31.2 mile course to beat defending champion Michael Hutchinson by more than two minutes.

It gives the Londoner, the three-time Olympic gold medallist, the right to wear the British champions’ jersey when he lines up at the starting gate in Rotterdam for the prologue of the 2010Tour de France, the race in which he finished fourth this year.

The race was part of Wiggns' preparations for the Tour of Britain, which begins in Scunthorpe on Saturday (September 12) and finishes in London a week later.

Pooley, the Olympic time trial silver medallist, won the shorter women's race in 46min 11sec with Wendy Houvenaghel, who won a silver medal in the pursuit race in Beijing last year, second 30 seconds behind.
