Honduras March_29March 29 - Honduras (pictured left) have booked their spot in the semi finals of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) men's Olympic football qualifiers.

Honduras reached the last four with a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, finishing second in their group behind Mexico and will now face El-Salvador, who shocked the hosts United States on Monday (March 26) by knocking them out of the tournament at the group stage.

The Hondurans reached Beijing four years ago after winning the qualifying tournament, and will be confident of doing so again this time around.

Against Trinidad  and Tobago, Eddie Hernandez struck the opener for the Hondurans after Wilmer Crisanto's shot was deflected into his path for a simple header.

DC United star Andy Najar (pictured above, number 10) then provided a cross from which Hernandez set up Anthony Lozano for the second.

Looking forward to Saturday's (March 31) clash, Luis Fernando Suarez, the Honduras coach, sounded an optimistic note: "This is a great group with excellent players, they have good chemistry, and they have been qualifying for [youth] World Cups and other tournaments up to this point.

"For the short-term, it would be great to qualify for the Olympics.

"I'm not guaranteeing we will qualify, but I am guaranteeing that we are in good shape for the next two World Cup [cycles]."

Mexico (pictured below in black), who are looking to return to the Olympics after missing out on Beijing 2008, beat Panama (pictured below in white) 1-0 in their final Group B game at the Home Depot Centre in Los Angeles to seal a semi-final with Canada, which will be played at the Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City.

The winners of the two semi-finals will book their spots in London later this year.

Erik Torres, one of the most promising players in North America, scored the winning goal for Mexico in injury time of the game with Panama to secure top spot in the group.

Canada will provide a tricky test in the last four though, having shocked the United States with a 2-0 win over the hosts in the group stage, as they bid for a first Olympic appearance since 1984.

Mexico are wary of the Canadians, according to their coach Luis Fernando Tena.

"I'm worried of course about Canada, we're not overconfident in the least and we have to be alert.

"There's a reason that Canada beat the United States.

"Their players have a good attitude and they showed their level, we're going to see the same thing."
