BMX National_Centre_ManchesterNovember 17 - Britain's most promising BMX riders will benefit from the re-establishment of a residential academy which will open in early December, claims David Brailsford.

The first intake of riders is to be named shortly, with the re-introduction of the BMX academy follows the completion of the new £24 million ($39 million/€27.5 million) National Indoor BMX Centre in Manchester.

"Now that we benefit from a world-class facility it makes sense to ensure we have the right structure in place within the BMX programme to effectively identify and develop future talent," said Brailsford, British Cycling's performance director.

"The academy will enable us to do so and generate a stream of riders hopefully with the quality to succeed at the highest level, meaning we can look ahead to 2016, 2020 and beyond with optimism."

Britain's BMX coach, Grant White, will overlook the process and will be assisted by a part-time BMX academy coach, who has yet to be recruited.
