coca-cola_27-07-11July 27 - Coca-Cola is offering ten US teenagers the chance to participate in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay when it comes to Oxford on July 9.

Coca-Cola is asking for nominations for teenagers making a positive difference to their community and inspiring others.

"To represent the US on the world's stage as a London 2012 Olympic Torchbearer is an honour shared by local dignitaries, Olympic athletes, celebrities and everyday people whose extraordinary efforts are changing the world," said Celeste Bottorff, vice-president, Living Well, Coca-Cola North America.

"Coca-Cola is thrilled to shine the spotlight on our country's most exceptional teens as they carry the London 2012 Olympic Flame.

"We hope the teens' achievements and commitment to living positively will inspire others to make a difference in their communities too."

Kaitlyn Chana carried the Olympic torch before the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics after being selected by Coca-Cola for her initiative creating homemade cards for children with life threatening illnesses.

Chana said: "Carrying the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Flame was extremely heart-warming.

"It was an honour to represent the strength of today's youth and show that we can carry our own personal flame of inspiration to pursue our greatest dreams."

Coca-Cola is seeking nominations for individuals embracing its Live Positively philosophy, such as those committed to having a positive impact on the lives of communities and consumers,

The key Live Positively values are healthy active living, community and the environment.

Teen Torchbearer nominations can be made here for anyone aged between 13 and 18-years-old on July 25, 2011, by explaining in 150 words or less why they are a champion of the philosophy before August 15, 2011.

The winning nominees will be given transportation to and from Oxford, as well as spending money and hotel accommodation for the three days when the Olympic torch passes through the city.

The Olympic Torch Relay begins on May 19 next year, travelling 8,000 miles over 70 days until it reaches its destination - the Olympic Park in London for the Opening Ceremony of the Games.
