Luol Deng dunkingJune 21 - Standard Life GB's senior men's head coach Chris Finch has announced the squad which will be participating in this summer's 2011 EuroBasket competition.

The 17-man squad includes NBA star Luol Deng alongside Rob Archibald and Joel Freeland, as well as a blend of younger players eager to make an impression.

Finch believes he has picked a strong squad which will be able to compete well at London 2012.

"Each summer one of our goals is to get our best talent together," he said.

"In addition, we are constantly looking to work with younger players and continue to evaluate those who we see as real contenders to help us now and for years to come.

"This collection of players accomplishes these objectives.

"Now it's incumbent on our guys to continue to make the commitment to our program, and arrive at Cobham in peak shape determined to take GB to a new level."

One player not making the trip to Panevezys, Lithuania, is Pops Mensah-Bonsu due to a shoulder injury.

"I am very disappointed to not be participating in this summer's activities with the GB team," he said.

"But I am also confident in the coaches and the players representing GB, and I know that they will do the country proud.

"Although it will be difficult to watch, I will be supporting the team along the way, hoping and praying for the best."

The squad will take on the Netherlands and Nigeria at Cobham before competing in the "London Prepares" tournament against China, Australia, Serbia, France and Croatia.

They will round off their preparations against Latvia in Riga before the EuroBasket kicks off at the end of August.

Britain will be taking on Lithuania, Turkey, Spain, Poland and another qualifier in the tournament.
