Sally_Chatterjee_head_and_shouldersJanuary 30 - Visit London's chief executive Sally Chatterjee will be leaving in April, after four years at the visitor organisation, she has announced.

The announcement comes as Visit London, Think London and Study London prepare to join together, under the working title Promote London.

Chatterjee had joined Visit London in April 2007 as deputy chief executive and replaced James Bidwell in the top role in November 2008 after he stepped down to join Urban Outfitters' clothing brand, Anthropologie, as managing director.

Prior to joining VisitLondon, Chatterjee was an independent strategy consultant in the telecom industry and previously has held positions at BT and Tesco Mobile.

"Hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games next year means that there has never been a bigger opportunity for London's tourism industry to showcase itself to the world, and I leave secure in the knowledge that we have delivered the strategy to ensure that there will be a significant economic legacy from the Games for the tourism industry," she said.

Visit London chair Tamara Ingram added: "I would personally like to thank Sally for her outstanding contribution.

"Since its establishment in 2003, Visit London has delivered an incremental £2 billion ($3.1 billion) in revenue for the nation and in the last four years alone, Visit London has developed a number of award winning campaigns to promote the capital to leisure and business visitors."
