Jakarta was chosen by the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) to host the 2025 World Championships. The bid presented by the Indonesian capital was the one that finally convinced the officials. The city of Jakarta has a population of around 30 million. Thanks to the commitment and work of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (PB Persani), it will host the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships.

The competition will take place from 19 to 25 October 2025. The Indoor Multifunctional Stadium in the heart of Jakarta will have a capacity of over 15,000. It will be the first time that the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships will be held in South East Asia.

Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, hosted the Asian Games in 2018, but the events were held in a pavilion within the Jakarta International Expo complex. The venue of choice for the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships will be the IMS Arena.

The programme drawn up by the FIG is not yet known. However, as is customary forWorld Championships held after an Olympic year, the individual disciplines are included, not the team events. Last year's World Championships were held in Antwerp, Belgium, and have already been awarded to Rotterdam, Netherlands, for 2026 and Chengdu, China, for 2027.

"During the Brick Parkour Asian Tour in Indonesia last year, I met with Mr Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Sports and Youth, and Mr Raja Sapta Oktohari, President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee," commented FIG President Morinari Watanabe. "The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation has already shown its professionalism in organising a stage of this new international Parkour event under the leadership of its President, Mrs. Ita Yuliati. I am delighted that the national federation has submitted a bid for our flagship event, the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, as a result of our discussions last year.

The Indonesian Gymnastics Federation represents 280 million people in 38 provinces and speaks more than 700 languages. We look forward to welcoming the global gymnastics family and sharing our rich culture and warm hospitality.
