Two athletes alongside Bajrang Punia and Sakhshi Malik were protesting against former president of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was accused of sexually harassing six female wrestlers. 

After UWW lifted the ban from WFI, the ad-hoc committee organised Olympic trials in March, and Vinesh and Anshu earned their places in the National team, while Bajrang failed to reach the finals.

In Bishkek Vinesh won all her three bouts in the women’s 50 kg category, and Anshu earned the Olympic berth in the women’s 57 kg. 

ANother Indian wrestler, world U23 champion Reetika earned a qualifying spot in the women’s 76 kg division.

China and North Korea, like India, earned three qualifying berths in the women’s wrestling. Qianyu Pang (53 kg), Kexin Hong (53 kg) and Juan Wang (76 kg) qualified for China, Hyogyong  Choe (53 kg), Hyon Gyong Mun (62 kg) and Sol Gum Pak (68 kg) earned qualifying berths for North Korea.

Meerim Zhumanazarova reached the final of the 68 kg category and qualified for the host nation. Aktenge Keunimjaeva won the qualifying spot in the 50 kg for Uzbekistan, and Orkhon Purevdorh form Mongolia was the second wrestler to qualify in the 62 kg category.

Iran secured all team presence at Paris 2024, as Amin Kaviyaninejad (77 kg) and Alireza Mohmadipiani (87 kg) managed to reach the final of the qualifiers. Iran had four Olympic berths after the 2023 World Championships, and now they managed to fill the remaining two empty spots.

Aidos Sultangali (60 kg), Demeu Zhadrayev (77 kg) and Alimkhan Syzdykov (130 kg) won Olympic berths for Kazakhstan, Amantur Ismailov (67 kg) qualified for Kyrgyzstan. 39 years old, world former runner up Rustem Assakalov qualified for the Olympic Games for the third time. Two Olympic berths went to Korea as Seungchan Lee (125 kg) and Seungjun Kim (97 kg) reached the finals of their weight categories. 

Kyotaro Sogabe (67 kg) qualified for Japan, Se Ung Pi (60 kg) for North Korea and Haitao Qian (87 kg) for China.
