The Medical University of Lublin was once again decorated for the start of the European Taekwon-Do Championships. The cheers in the stands, particularly from the Italian and German contingents, were matched by support for the competitors as the cream of European taekwon-do practitioners took centre stage.

Slovakia made its presence felt at the 29th AETF Junior European Taekwon-Do Championships 2024 by winning both of its women's bouts. Teresa Krucayova defeated local rival Zofia Kaplik in the -45kg division, while Romania took their first gold in the Individual Male Junior Special Technique thanks to the performance of David Trinbitas.

Trinbitas was joined on the podium by countryman David Isaac Nuta, indicating that they are in contention for a strong showing at the European Championships. England's Jake Brown was third. Just missing the podium was home favourite Maciej Pienkowsi in fourth. As the morning wore on, the hosts took gold and finished second in the junior category behind Romania, who took silver.

Meanwhile, the pre-juniors were also kept busy as ITF officials watched and chatted in the VIP area ahead of tomorrow night's Congress in Lublin. Poland and Romania also started the day on a high in the junior competition, both winning gold medals, although the hosts had a slight advantage with a silver medal. They swapped places at the top of the medals table halfway through the day.
