The Presidents of the IWGA and the IOC discussed the latest developments regarding the preparations for the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 and the World Games in Chengdu in 2025. 

The World Games (TWG) are managed and promoted by the IWGA. It is a multi-sport event held every four years and includes around 35 sports in its programme. The next edition will be the 12th and will take place in Chengdu, China, from 7 to 17 August 2025, with an expected participation of 5,000 athletes from over 100 countries.

The exchange of views focused on the development of non-Olympic sports and disciplines in China. Thomas Bach stressed that the IOC has always attached great importance to the development of non-Olympic disciplines and reiterated the IOC's full support for the World Games.

President Jose Perurena informed his IOC counterpart of the positive outcome of the 1st IWGA NOC/NSO Meeting, which resulted in the signing of several agreements, including three important NOC's from China, France and Spain. 

The non-profit international sports organisation, headed by Perurena, emphasised that NOC's are key to the promotion of athletes participating in the World Games.

Discussions also took place with President Bach on the possibility of an IWGA Refugee Team participating in the 2025 World Games, as well as the IWGA's relationship with other multi-sport organisations, governing bodies and key industry stakeholders. At the Olympic House, both parties pledged to take all possible measures to work together and develop cooperation in the future.
