Italy aiming for two more qualifiers in taekwondo. FEDERAZIONE ITALIANA TAEKWONDO

The Italian Taekwondo National Team has already qualified for Paris 2024 with Vito Dell'Aquila in the -58 kg category and Simone Alessio in the -80 kg category. Now they are aiming for two more qualifiers in the women's -49kg and -67kg categories.

Ilenia Elisabetta Matonti and Natalia D'Angelo will represent Italy at the European Qualifying Tournament to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria on 9th and 10th March 2024. This tournament is the last chance for European athletes to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games, with the two finalists in each category securing their places at the Olympic Games. 

Matonti is a young athlete who won the bronze medal at the European U21 Championships at the end of 2023. She also competed at the 2023 World Championships in Baku and won the 2023 Albania Open. Matonti is ranked 86th in the Olympic 49 kg category. D'Angelo, 25, is more experienced and has won several open tournaments. 2023 has been a successful year for D'Angelo as she won bronze at the European Games 2023 in Malopolska, Poland, the Spanish Open and the Balkan Cup. She is ranked 28th in the women's -67 kg Olympic category.
