Jeff Dunne, a 16-year-old known as J Attack, won the b-boys event at Sydney Town Hall by sweeping the final 3-0 against Benji Cogdell-Baird, or BenMX.

Dunne produced head spins and flips to get the nod from the judges against his 15-year-old opponent, also from Australia.

Rachael Gunn, or Raygun, won the b-girls final 2-1 in another all-Australian affair against Molly Chapman, or Holy Molly.

Gunn, a 36-year-old university lecturer, just about did enough to beat her 18-year-old rival in the best of three format.

Breaking, or breakdancing, was added to the Paris 2024 programme in December 2020 as part of the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) drive to appeal to younger audiences.

However, the sport has already been left off the Los Angeles 2028 schedule before it even had the chance to make its Games debut.

A total of 32 athletes - 16 male and 16 female - are due to compete in the French capital.

Of these, 20 will book their places in the Olympic Qualifier Series, an IOC-led competition set to be held in Shanghai and Budapest in May and June.

The remainder of the top four from the event in Sydney have qualified for the Series.

One male and one female place are also available through the World Championships and other continental events, such as the Oceania Championships.

France will be guaranteed one athlete in each competition as the host nation.
