The penultimate day of pool stage action in Scotland saw Spain cement top spot of Group C with six wins from six.

Oihane Otaegi's side brushed aside Italy 10-2 in their only fixture of the day.

The match started evenly with Italy opening the scoring with a single point before Spain did the same in the second end.

Another single came for Italy in the third before they were blown away by three points in three consecutive ends for Spain.

Spain are due to play their final group fixture tomorrow against Estonia who are languishing towards the bottom of the table despite an 8-5 win against Austria in the night session.

Latvia and Switzerland both took morning triumphs to secure their places in the next round.

Claudia Baumann and Switzerland powered past Slovakia 7-2 with a three-point sixth end that sealed the victory.

Latvia meanwhile got the better of the Czech Republic 9-4 as skip Arnis Veidemanis led them to glory, with a third end haul of four points proving pivotal.

The two triumphant sides then met later in the day with Latvia coming out on top.

Once again, they scored four points in the third end which was vital for victory as the final score settled at 7-5 after the full eight ends.

The final day of group play is set to conclude tomorrow with six teams still set to secure their place in the playoffs.

The teams ranked from fifth to 12^th will play in the qualification games for a place in the quarter-final where the four group leaders await.
