In the men's solo, Miramon Quiroga clocked 2min 53.91sec to beat Giovanni Ficarra to the title.

Ficarra clocked 3:03.56 for the silver medal, while bronze went to Karl Schulze of Germany who managed 3:07.77, ahead of Zygimantas Galisanskis of Lithuania.

The category saw an early exit as defending champion Christopher Bak of the US was knocked out in the quarter-finals.

"I am very happy as I am the first man to win two gold medals in endurance and two gold medals in beach sprints," said Miramon Quiroga after the win.

Van Der Meulen claimed her gold medal with a time of 3:03.57 with European champion Elodie Ravera-Scaramozzino of France finishing second in 3:13.53.

Christine Cavallo of the USA finished third with a timing of 3:13.36.

The Kiwi pair of Matthew Dunham and Jackie Kiddle pipped Britain's Laura McKenzie and Sam Scrimgeour for the coastal mixed double sculls crown.

The New Zealand duo finished in 2:42.52 for the title despite McKenzie and Scrimgeour enjoying the better starts.

However, New Zealand steered the better line, giving them advantage while sprinting on the beach, forcing Britain to take silver in 2:45.34.

Annalisa Cozzarini and Andrea Serafino helped Italy to bronze in 2:44.49.

Bak stole the show in the final against Italy as the US finished in 2:27.35 to triumph in the coastal mixed coxed quadruple sculls.

Italy and New Zealand secured silver and bronze with timings of 2:39.05 and 2:34.00, respectively.

Barletta is set to play host to the 2023 World Rowing Coastal Championships from Friday (October 6) next.
