Competition took place at the Starlight Stadium in Langford, British Columbia, with the US taking the men’s title after a 24-14 win over Canada.

The teams that finished second and third earned places at a final qualification tournament, due to be held in June 2024.

In the men’s event the bronze medal went to Mexico, who edged past Jamaica 10-7.

The US went through their pool matches without conceding a point, and also did the same in the semi-finals when they beat Jamaica 30-0.

In their men’s semi-final Canada ran out comprehensive 54-5 winners against Mexico, having earlier won both of their pool matches.

In the women’s competition, Canada made home advantage count as they swept aside Mexico 53-0 in the match for gold.

In the battle for bronze and the second place at next year’s final qualification tournament, Jamaica overcame St Lucia 27-12.

In the round-robin stage, Canada went through their two matches without conceding a point, and also cruised through their semi-final 41-7 against St Lucia.

The other semi-final was a tighter affair as Mexico beat Jamaica 19-12, and reversed the result of the teams’ meeting in the round-robin stage, when Jamaica won 10-7.

Rugby sevens competition during Paris 2024 is scheduled to take place from July 24 to 30, with matches due to be held at the Stade de France in Paris.
