The Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) has partnered with food company Paladini SA to provide 100 scholarships to athletes who will represent the nation at international events.

Athletes "classified or with certain possibilities" of qualifying for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and the Paris 2024 Olympics are to receive ARS100,000 ($372/£289/€334) as part of the tie up.

The COA's scholarship criteria will decide who gets the awards, with athletes required submit a technical report of their results and performances for consideration.

"It is a great joy and emotion to be able to carry out actions together with Paladini, within the framework of the celebration for the 100 years of both institutions," COA President Mario Moccia said.

"Having this support not only generates a direct impact on our athletes, but also in the Argentine Olympic Committee as an Institution."

The decision was taken at a meeting attended by Moccia, COA secretary general Víctor Sergio Groupierre and treasurer Carlos Ferrea.

Paladini SA was represented by its President Juan Carlos Paladini Concina and company representative Guillermo Rovitti.

"With 100 years of experience in the country, from Paladini we always seek to develop initiatives that generate an impact in the communities with which we interact," Marcelo Díaz , commercial manager of Paladini SA, said.

"In this case, the 100 scholarships awarded are not only a way to encourage and reward our athletes for their commitment to national sport, but it is also a way to support the work that the Argentine Olympic Committee has been doing for 100 years, and which coincides with our centenary."
