China backed up yesterday's shock win against Puerto Rico with a thrilling victory over The Netherlands at the Women's Softball World Cup Group B.

Min Ren smashed a home run at the Camp Municipal de Beisbol i Softbol in Valencia while Xiaotan He's RBI single helped the Chinese win 5-4 to deliver another stunning result, this time against the European champions.

The world number 11 team China overcame a three-run deficit after quickly going down in the first innings.

Cuba, ranked 28th in the world, also stayed undefeated as they played twice on the second day of Group B action.

They crushed South Africa 10-3 before narrowly getting the better of host nation Spain 2-1.

Pitcher Yilian Tornes starred for the Cubans as she struck out nine batters in seven innings while only giving up three hits and two walks.

Cuba scored first in the game when Yilian Rondon singled to centre field to enable Leannelys Zayas to reach home plate.

However, Uxue Modrego's solo home run tied the game one inning later.

Yesterday's player of the day Yanisleidys Casanova continued her good form with a hit to left field that saw Maidelis Reyes get the go-ahead score from second base.

The only other match saw Puerto Rico deliver another heavy defeat for South Africa, cruising to an 8-1 win.

Competition is set to continue with Spain facing The Netherlands first before Cuba play Puerto Rico.

The Dutch are then back in action against South Africa and the hosts play again to try and inflict China's first defeat.
