Two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray of Britain has crashed out of the grass-court Grand Slam after losing to Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Murray, who is a two-time Olympic singles gold medallist, established a 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 lead on Thursday (July 6) when the 11PM Wimbledon curfew halted play.

But Tsitsipas recovered brilliantly, playing some of the best tennis on grass this season, to take the next two sets 7-6, 6-4.

It was a day to forget for British players as the national number one Cameron Norrie exited the tournament after a 3-6, 6-3, 2-6, 6-7 loss to Christopher Eubanks of the United States.

In a twist of fortunes, British number five Liam Broady who stunned one and all by beating world number four Casper Ruud of Norway in the previous round, bowed out.

He lost 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, 7-5 to Canadian 26th seed Denis Shapovalov.

Defending champion and Serbian super star Novak Djokovic is on course for a 24th Grand Slam title, as he got the better of Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka.

Djokovic crushed the three-time Grand Slam champion 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 before praising the Swiss star and his British colleague Murray.

"I have to say that it's amazing what Stan is doing," Djokovic was quoted as saying by ATP.

"Still his age, after several surgeries.

"We are two old guys fighting with the young guns, I think it's important to acknowledge that.

"It's amazing. It's inspiring.

"Like Andy [Murray], he was forced to drop [in] the rankings in the last couple of years [and is] trying to build his ranking.

"We've had some amazing battles on the biggest courts in the sport.

"I respect Stan a lot as a player, I really love him as a person.

"He's an extremely nice guy. So I wish him all the best for the for the rest of the season."

World number one Carlos Alcaraz of Spain also had a routine 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 win over Alexandre Müller of France.

Despite going down in the first set, second seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus recovered well to despatch French world number 42 Varvara Gracheva 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Top seed Iga Świątek of Poland and Tunisian sixth seed Ons Jabeur also registered wins today.

Świątek, who is yet to drop a set in the tournament, eased past Croatia's Petra Martić 6-2, 7-5.

Jabeur was no match for China's Zhuoxuan Bai with Tunisian finally able to seal a 6-1, 6-1 victory after two days due to rain delays.

The third round will also feature two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka.

The Belarusian beat 11th seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-2, 6-4.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitová of the Czech Republic impressed by cruising past Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus 6-2, 6-2.
