The International Judo Federation's (IJF) esports venture in collaboration with Minecraft has been a huge success since it was launched in October last year, the governing body has announced.

IJF revealed that its Minecraft experience, called The Mystery of the Kodokan, has reached one million users.

It was launched at the World Championships in Tashkent last year to "spread and promote the values of judo".

Players can collect judo belts hidden at different locations at the Kodokan Judo Institute and the open world created around it.

Those who collect all belts will be given access to claim a unique in-game judo Minecraft skin.

The Kodokan is considered as the home of judo and was founded in Tokyo in 1882 by Kanō Jigorō, the founder of judo.

The first episode of the series called The Mystery of the Budokan was released in 2021 to celebrate the return of the Olympic Games to Tokyo.

More than 2.5 million players are using the first episode, according to IJF.

The International Federation has also worked with the Minecraft Education Edition.
