Brothers Timon and Fantin Pharabod lit up the scooter métropole finals as they pulled off a one-two finish here on the first day of FISE Montpellier. 

The urban sports festival began in style in the French city and saw the métropole finals take place in scooter, BMX freestyle, and roller freestyle. 

The métropole disciplines are contested by domestic athletes before the elite stages commence over the remainder of the festival, which concludes on Sunday (May 21).

Timon was significantly superior in the park set-up on the banks of the River Lez.

The 18-year-old unleashed a nothing front scooter flip, which would go down well even in the elite final, on his way to a leading total of 90.33.

Fantin, two years younger than his sibling, narrowly managed to seal the silver medal as he amassed 79.33 points to pip third-placed William Bazelaire by 0.66.

Timon Pharabod is also set to compete in the elite rounds with the first qualification round due to take place on Friday (May 19).

The BMX riders then took to the park, which is optimised for scooter and roller.

Despite this, 27-year-old Antoine Helguen proved his worth to clinch top spot. 

A nothing, tuck no hander, and backflip barspin highlighted his routine which was judged to be worth 87.60 points, beating Aubin Sarrazin in silver on 72.30.

Nathan Bosch took bronze despite failing to finish in the final due to his qualifying score which game him the edge over Matheo Miranda and Lilian Virazel.

Carla Valenza notched up 78.67 points in the women's final to take gold ahead of Chalandon sisters Laïlou and Mathilde.

The 12 and nine-year-old scored 67.33 and 62.67 points, respectively.

Another nine-year-old reached the podium in the women's roller freestyle in the form of Emel Praillet who triumphed in a youthful field with 42.67 points.

Lola Boudes secured silver with 39.67 while the oldest competitor, 17-year-old Lyss Cerlo, made up the top three on 37.42.

The men's event was contested by much older athletes, with the podium coming in at 27, 28, and 34.

Leander Fabri prevailed in first with 87.00 points to fend off the challenges of Vincent Ambrosino and Thomas Riffaud with respective totals of 79.67 and 74.33.
