Pidcock, who was victorious in the cross-country discipline at Tokyo 2020, is set to test out the new Dogma XC bike at the International Cycling Union (UCI) Cross-Country World Cup.

The 23-year-old and Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand-Prévot are both signed to Ineos Grenadiers and are expected to ride the new bike at the World Cup opener in the Czech Republic's Nové Město running from today until Sunday (May 14).

Pinarello has worked with Ineos Grenadiers since 2015 on its Dogma series, which also includes road bikes used by the team on the UCI World Tour.

The Italian manufacturer only began developing the bike in the latter stages of 2022, with Ferrand-Prévot and Pidcock providing feedback in what Pinarello describes as "a very intense period of testing".

It created the Dogma XC to support the team's performances during the World Cups and Mountain Bike World Championships before the ultimate goal of winning gold medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games next year.

Following feedback on the earlier model from Pidcock and Ferrand-Prévot, Pinarello adjusted the bottom bracket area, the flex stays, rear triangle, kinematics and bearings system.

It is hoped that the changes reduce stiffness in the rear triangle and bottom bracket to increase reactivity.

The kinematics alteration is aimed to optimise travel and rebound while further adjustments have been made to improve the suspension, lightness, and handling.

"This design results in the elimination of a classic external 'bridge' allows for a reduced chain stay length and delivers improved handling and reactivity," said Pinarello, as reported by Bike Rumor, on the rear triangle which features the unique design of two semi-triangles fitted to a main rotation point.

"The elimination of critical mud accumulation areas and the ability to adopt wider tires, providing riders with a greater range of options."

Mountain biking is set to take place from July 28 to 29 next year at Paris 2024.
