Mexico and Brazil have sealed their places in the Pan American Team Badminton Championships semi-finals in Guadalajara.

The host nation set up a final four tie with top seed Canada as they cruised past Ecuador 3-0 at the at the Centro de Alto CODE Guadalajara.

Armando Gaitain and Haramara Gaitán combined to defeat Joseph Huebla and Natalia Tapia 21-14, 21-15 in the opening match.

Luis Ramón Garrido then doubled the lead with a dominant 21-12, 21-8 triumph against Andy Baque before Sabrina Solis' 21-11, 21-16 win over Maria Delia Zambrano confirmed the overall victory.

Brazil prevailed in a back-and-forth battle with Guatemala which they eventually won 3-2.

Fabrício Farias and Jaqueline Lima gave Brazil as they beat Jonathan Solís and Diana Corleto Soto 21-16, 21-14 in the opener.


Guatemala then pegged them back twice to go into the decider at 2-2.

Jaqueline and Sâmia Lima then got the better of Diana Corleto Soto and Nikté Sotomayor 21-16, 16-21, 21-19 to end the Central Americans' title hopes.

Guatemala met Ecuador in the fifth-place playoff where they eased to a 3-0 win courtesy of victories from Christopher Martinez, Alejandra Paiz, and men's doubles pair Aníbal Marroquín and Jonathan Solís.

Peru clinched seventh place overall as they beat Argentina and El Salvador in a round-robin stage to decide the bottom three positions.

Competition is set to continue tomorrow with Brazil versus the United States and Canada against Mexico in the semi-finals.

They are set to be preceded by El Salavador's clash with Argentina for eighth place and followed by the bronze-medal match.
