Denmark is set to face France in the final of the European Mixed Team Badminton Championships after winning their respective semi-finals in Aire-sur-la-Lys.

Line Christophersen and Viktor Axelsen posted convincing wins in the women’s and men’s singles before the women’s doubles pair of Sara Thygesen and Maiken Fruergaard followed through.

European silver medallist beat Freya Redfearn 21-5, 21-15 before Olympic champion and world number one Axelsen defeated Johnnie Torjussen 21-12, 21-8.

In the women’s doubles, Thygesen and Fruergaard defeated Birmingham 2022 silver medallist Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith 21-18, 21-15.

In the other semi-final, Qi Xuefei and Toma Junior Popov won the women’s and men’s singles for France against Yvonne Li and Fabian Roth respectively.

Qi defeated Yvonne 21-16, 8-21, 21-11 while Popov got the better of Roth 21-13, 21-13.

The women’s doubles pair of Linda Efler and Isabel Lohau gave the Germans a glimmer of hape as they crushed Margot Lambert and Anne Tran 21-17, 21-10.

However, France sealed the result in the men’s doubles thanks to Christo Popov and Tomo Junior Popov.

The Popov brothers took an exiting first game 23-21 before securing the final spot with a 21-15 win.
