Boadu heads up a new management team for Ghana's under-20 side, assisted by Desmond Offei and Salifu Fatawu, and goalkeeper coach Fatawu Dauda.

The new manager clinched a first league and cup for Ghanaian Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2020-2021 season.

Offei has previously worked as under-18 head coach and under-21 coach at Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp, while Fatawu was part of the previous management team led by Karim Zito which guided Ghana to Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations success in Mauritania last year.

Goalkeeping coach Dauda made 26 caps for Ghana's senior men's national team, including serving as their first choice for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and being part of the squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Despite being defending champions, Ghana failed to qualify for next year's Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.

Ghana is due to stage the African Games for the first time from August 4 to 19 2023.

However, the country's economic difficulties coupled with doubts over the involvement of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa and the Association of African Sports Confederations in the running of the event, stemming from a dispute with the African Union, have cast uncertainty over Accra 2023.
