Australia and England are set to begin the match which will decide the Croquet World Cup in Cairnlea, Melbourne.

England had beaten New Zealand in the most dramatic encounter of the four nation series.

The sides were tied after ten matches when England skipper Samir Patel defeated his New Zealand counterpart Edmund Fordyce with the very last shot of the day to win 11-10.

England had previously beaten the United States 16-5 in their first contest of the competition.

Both sides have two test wins after the Australians also defeated the United States 14-7 in their second series of the competition.

They had previously beaten New Zealand 11-9.

The matches are set to be decided at Victorian Croquet Centre Cairnlea, some 17 kilometres from central Melbourne.

Play is scheduled to run until November 28.

The winners will lift the MacRobertson Shield, a trophy donated by Sir Macpherson Robertson, an Australian philanthropist in 1925.
