The IPC delegation met with representatives from the Americas Paralympic Committee in Providencia to assess the preparations of the Games.

"Instances like this are essential to carry out Parapan American Games of excellence, we are convinced that these will be very productive days of work and that we will be able to demonstrate all the progresses we have made since they last visited us," said Santiago 2023 executive director Gianna Cunazza.

The event is due to take from November 17 to 25 next year,with the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos set to serve as the main venue.

"We are very happy to receive IPC and APC again in this second Cocom of 2022," said Chilean Sports Minister Alexandra Benado.

"They not only come to supervise us and see our current stage, but also, as always, to collaborate, contribute and define details."

Almost 2,000 athletes from 33 countries are set to compete in 17 sports and 18 disciplines at what is set to be the seventh edition of the Parapan Games.

Organisers are confident of delivering a successful event.

"We are very calm and hopeful that next year we will be able to start this great event for our country," Sebastián Villavicencio, a member of the Santiago 2023 Board of Directors, said.

"We are very happy with this day and we will make the most of it."

Benado was also present at a Santiago 2023 event in El Bosque to celebrate the milestone.

Chilean national team athletes and officials from the local Government hosted different sport clinics with schools in the commune.
