Tarnów has signed an agreement to join the collection of cities hosting next year's European Games and is due to be the venue for four sports.

Mayor Roman Ciepiela signed the agreement on behalf of Tarnów.

President Marcin Nowak and vice-president Michał Langer represented the Organising Committee at a signing ceremony.

Beach handball, beach soccer, badminton and sport climbing are all to take place in Tarnów under the agreement.

Arena Jaskółka is to be the badminton venue, the University of Applied Sciences campus will hold sport climbing and a beach sports centre is set for handball and soccer action.

Beach handball and sport climbing are both making European Games debuts.

Kraków and the wider Małopolska region is due to hold next year's European Games between June 21 and July 2.

Tarnów joins the likes of Krynica-Zdrój in becoming a secondary hub for the multi-sport event.

Next year's European Games will be the third edition, following on from Azerbaijan's capital Baku hosting in 2015 and Belarusian equivalent Minsk doing so in 2019.

No host has yet been finalised for the 2027 edition.
