British triathletes Jess Fullagar and Georgia Taylor-Brown have had "Golden Gateway" plaques installed at the Brownlee Centre in English city Leeds to celebrate the roles the venues played in helping them achieve their Commonwealth Games dreams.

The pair struck gold at Birmingham 2022, with Fullagar guiding Katie Crowhurst to the women’s PTVI title and Taylor-Brown helping England’s mixed relay team seal top spot.

Taylor-Brown, a two-time Olympic medallist, also claimed women’s individual silver in the English city.

Golden Gateways is a legacy initiative launched by Commonwealth Games England to celebrate the host nation’s gold medal-winning athletes by installing golden plaques at sporting venues across the country.

Fullagar and Taylor-Brown have both chosen the Brownlee Centre - named after British triathlete stars Alistair and Jonny Brownlee - having both trained at the venue.

"From leisure centres and schools to sports clubs and gyms, we want to recognise the role that these sporting institutions and locations play in helping people across the nation fall in love with sport," said John Steele, chair of Commonwealth Games England.

"We are immensely proud of all of the Team England athletes that have passed through these ‘Golden Gateway’ venues on their way to medal success at the Games; their legacy will inspire many more sportspeople of the future."
